2026/06/24 Best Paper Award at ACM IGSC 2025!

📣 📣 📣 🎉🏆 Excited to share that our paper “Advancing Environmental Sustainability in Data Centers via Carbon Depreciation Models” has received the Best Paper Award at the 16th ACM International Green and Sustainable Computing Conference (IGSC 2026)! 🏆.

In this work, we propose carbon depreciation models that fundamentally rethink how embodied carbon is accounted for over a server’s lifetime. Instead of treating all hardware equally, our approach assigns a larger share of embodied carbon to newly provisioned servers while encouraging longer hardware lifetimes and higher server utilization through idle carbon recovery. Experimental results demonstrate 28–57% reductions in carbon emissions, highlighting the potential of lifecycle-aware carbon accounting for future sustainable data centers.
